If you love to swim and care about the safety of others, we invite you to train to be a Junior Lifeguard/ Swim Instructor! Throughout the week you will gain the confidence and knowledge to volunteer as a YMCA Jr. Lifeguard and apply for a lifeguard position at 16 years old!  This program grades combines education with recreation; learn both the technical skills of lifeguarding and the interpersonal skills to work with members and guests. Participants will learn about water safety, swim instruction, lifeguard skills, and leadership on the pool deck while building self-confidence. Pre-requisite: Program participants must be patient, calm and safety-focused. Please plan on demonstrating the following water skills the first class: Tread water for 2 minutes, swim 200 yards of varying strokes and perform a dive to a 10 foot depth.
